Information about Examinations

For information about the National Examinations, visit the Professional Credentialing Service (testing service) website.

Effective January, 2009 the Barber examination will be a non-chemical examination.

Registration for Testing

Practice Testing

When you have registered for the examination, you may use the online practice testing system available from the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology, Inc. (NIC). For information about practice testing, click NIC - Testing Program.

Reference Test Materials

The National Interstate-Council (NIC) has assembled a listing of textbooks that are used to create the National Examination for Cosmetology and Barbering. Note that all National Examinations are referenced to the latest editions of the Milady and Pivot Point Textbooks.
