Question: How do I obtain certification?

Answer: A person who desires to be certified as a dietitian/nutritionist must apply to the Committee by completing an application. See Licensure Requirements.

 

Question: What are the application fees?

Answer: The fee payable with your application depends on the month in which your application is postmarked or hand delivered. See Fee Schedule.

 

Question: Do you require continuing education?

Answer: Yes. Thirty hours of continuing education is required during the 2-year certification period. Continuing education must meet the content requirements of the American Dietetic Association. Section 2 of th e Committees's Rules and Regulations explains this requirement.

 

Question: Must I be certified to work in Delaware?

Answer: No. Your employer will determine whether certification is required.

 

Question: What does certification mean?

Answer: No person shall represent himself or herself as a certified dietitian/nutritionist in this state or use the title certified dietitian, certified nutritionist or certified dietitian/nutritionist or use the letters C.D.N. unless a person is certified by the Committee of Dietitics/Nutrition.
