Examinations


LAW, RULES AND REGULATIONS EXAMINATION

All applicants for funeral director licenses must pass an examination on Delaware's law, rules and regulations with a minimum score of 70%. The examination consists of 50 multiple-choice questions on the law and regulations pertaining to the practice of funeral services (Title 24, Chapter 31), pre-need burial contracts (Title 5, Chapter 34), registration of deaths (Title 16, Chapter 31, Sections 3101-3112, 3123-3132, 3151-3164), funeral processions (Title 21, Chapter 71) and care and transportation of the dead (DE State Board of Health Regulations Concerning Care and Transportation of the Dead).

Applicants by a resident internship may take this examination any time during the internship. When the intern is ready, he or she should contact the Board office to schedule the examination. Applicants by reciprocity may take the examination when notified by the Board office. Examinations must be scheduled at least three weeks before the examination date.

See Fee Schedule for the examination fee." Please do not send this fee until the examination has been scheduled. If an applicant requests re-scheduling of the examination after it has been shipped, an additional fee will be assessed to cover the shipping costs.

The testing service will send the results to the Board office, and the Board office will notify applicants in writing. If the applicant does not pass, the examination may be re-taken.
