Question:
Will you handle my billing issues or help me recover my expenses?
Answer:
No. The Investigative Unit does not handle billing disputes or issues related to financial reimbursement involving licensees. Other forums that may be appropriate for this issue are the Civil Courts, the Better Business Bureau, and the Consumer Protection Unit at the Department of Justice.
Question: Can I have
a copy of the report when you are finished?
Answer: No. The Investigative Unit can not provide
copies of investigations or information collected as part
of our investigation to complainants or their legal representatives.
Investigative files are exempt from the Freedom of Information
Act requirements pursuant to 29
Del. C., § 10002 (d) (3).
Question: Will I be
advised as to the outcome of my case?
Answer: Yes. Upon completion of an investigation
into your complaint, you will receive a letter advising
you of the outcome of the investigation. This letter will
advise the determination of the Investigative Unit only.
Further action, as deemed necessary, may be occurring
in other forums such as the Attorney General's Office.
If this is the case, your closure letter will advise you
of this.
Question: How long will
it take to investigate my complaint?
Answer: Investigations vary since they involve
so many variables. Some cases are clear and involve a
limited number of circumstances and upon assignment, can
be completed quickly. Others take longer periods of time
and are more complex. The Investigative Unit handles each
case with care and diligence to ensure an accurate outcome.
We will handle your complaint with that same level of
care.
