Applying for a license by examination

An applicant who wishes to take the examination must do the following:

If the applicant has a degree in landscape architecture from an accredited school or college:

  • Submit a completed and notarized application along with the pro-rated fee. Make check or money order payable to "State of Delaware."
  • Have an official transcript sent directly to the board's office from the accredited school or college.
  • Submit completed Supervisory Reference Form(s) which document 2 years of professional experience under the direct supervision of a licensed Landscape Architect. These forms must be completed, signed and have the supervisor's Seal affixed to them.

Please note - An applicant who has a degree in landscape architecture may apply to take the exam prior to obtaining 2 years of supervised professional experience; however, a license will not be issued until the 2 years experience has been obtained.

If the applicant does not have a degree in landscape architecture:

  • Submit a completed and notarized application along with the pro-rated fee. Check or money order should be made payable to "State of Delaware."
  • Have an official transcript sent directly to the board's office from the accredited school or college. The transcript must show completion of two years of courses in landscape architecture.
  • Submit completed Supervisory Reference Form(s) which document 4 years of professional experience under the direct supervision of a licensed Landscape Architect. These forms must be completed, signed and have the supervisor's Seal affixed to them.
  • Please note - An applicant who does not have a degree in landscape architecture from an accredited school or college may not take the exam prior to obtaining 4 years of supervised professional experience.
