Question: When is the exam held?

Answer: The Division of Professional Regulation offers all examinations annually in April and October. See Licensure Requirements.

 

Question: Do I have to take an exam if I am applying through reciprocity?

Answer: Yes. Everyone has to pass a two-hour exam on drainage and Delaware law. See Licensure by Reciprocity.

 

Question: Can I get a temporary license?

Answer: Temporary licenses are not available.

 

Question: How many Professional Development Hours (PDH'S) do I need to renew my license?

Answer: Twenty-four PDH'S, with a minimum of 2 PDH'S in ethics, unless you are retired. Licensees who are sixty-two years of age and older and working less than twenty hours weekly are considered retired. Retired licensees need only have twelve PDH'S, with a minimum of of 1 PDH in ethics. See Section 10.0 of the Board's Rules and Regulations.

 

Question: How many PDH'S can I carry over to the next renewal?

Answer: No PDH'S may be carried over to the next renewal.

 

Question: When does my license expire?

Answer: Licenses expire on June 30 of each odd-numbered year. See Renewal.

 

Question: Is a Delaware Professional Engineer required to be licensed as a Delaware Professional Land Surveyor to perform land surveying?

Answer: Pursuant to 24 Del Code, Section 2718, "Nothing in this chapter shall be construed as preventing or restricting the practice, services, or activities of any person(s) licensed to practice engineering or architecture in Delaware." All questions pertaining to the practices of engineering in the State of Delaware should be directed to the:
