Information About Renewal Applications for All Licenses

Occupational Therapy licenses expire on July 31 of even-numbered years (e.g., 2022, 2024).

A few months before the expiration date of your license, a renewal notice will be sent to the email address on the record. This notice will explain how to access your online renewal application in DELPROS, our online professional licensure system. To complete the online renewal application, you must log-in to your account, answer questions, and use a credit card to pay your renewal fee.

All notices about professional licenses, such as renewal and audit notices, will be sent by email only. It is important to keep your contact information up-to-date so that all the notices we send reach you. To check and update your contact information online, click on Manage Profile link in DELPROS.

Renewing an Active Licenses and Registrations

An active license must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date. During renewal, you are asked to attest that you have completed the required continuing education units (CEs).

For information about CE requirements and audits, click on the Continuing Education and Audit Information webpage or see Section 3.0 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations. After the renewal, a percentage of licensees are randomly selected for audit of their CE.

Renewing Occupational Therapy Interstate Telehealth Registration

This Telehealth Registration expires on July 31 of even-numbered years (2022, 2024). An active license must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date.

During each renewal, you must attest that:

• you hold at least one active license issued by another state’s licensing authority or board, and
• all licenses that you hold or have ever held are in good standing.

Renewing an Expired License

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice in Delaware while your license is expired.

You may file a late renewal application up to one year after the expiration date in DELPROS. You must pay a late fee in addition to the renewal fee. Even though you can file a late renewal application, do not resume practicing until your license is actually renewed to active status. The late period is not a “grace period.”

If you fail to renew within one year, the license will terminate. To resume practicing in Delaware, you must apply in DELPROS as a new applicant.

Inactive and Reactivating Licenses

If you hold an active license but are not practicing in Delaware, you may request to place your license in inactive status by submitting a Service Request in DELPROS. You must request inactive status before your late renewal period ends (July 31 of odd years).

You cannot practice in Delaware while your license is in inactive status. To maintain your inactive license, you must renew it in DELPROS. Renewal will keep your license in inactive status for two more years.

To resume practicing in Delaware, you must reactivate your license by submitting a Service Request in DELPROS. along with proof of CE attained within the past two years (20 contact hours). The twenty (20) hours must be in accordance with Section 3.0 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.
