Pharmacist License


How you apply for Pharmacist licensure depends on whether you have passed the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX).

Application by Examination or Score Transfer

  • Enclose non-refundable processing fee by check or money order made payable to “State of Delaware”
  • Submit proof of your pharmacy education:
    • If you graduated from a school or college of Pharmacy in the U.S., submit a Certificate of Graduation Form completed by your school or college of Pharmacy and sent directly to the Board office
    • If you graduated from a school or college of Pharmacy outside the U.S., submit a copy of your Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certificate. For an application, visit www.nabp.net.
  • Arrange for Board office to receive a criminal background check following instructions on the form.
  • Submit proof that you have completed 1500 hours of Board-approved internship by arranging for the Board office to receive any of the following that apply:
    • College Practical Experience Form completed by your school or college of Pharmacy for practicum hours and sent directly to the Board office
    • Affidavit of Intern Experience form to document any pre-licensure or internship hours you have worked in a Pharmacy.
    • Transfer of internship hours from another state(s), sent directly from each state’s Board of Pharmacy to the Delaware Board office
  • Register to take the NAPLEX and/or Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) on www.nabp.net. For MPJE study material, click here. The Board office will notify NABP that you are eligible to take the exam(s) only after
    • it receives your application, fee, and Certificate of Graduation, and
    • you have registered for the exam(s).

If you passed the NAPLEX less than a year ago but you cannot transfer your score because you did not designate Delaware as a score transfer state, you must apply by reciprocity/license transfer.

If you passed the NAPLEX over a year ago but you are not currently licensed in another state, you must re-take the NAPLEX and MPJE.

Application by Reciprocity/License Transfer

You may apply by reciprocity/license transfer if you are currently licensed in another state. If you are not currently licensed in another state, you must apply by examination or score transfer.

  • Submit the NABP license transfer application and NABP fee on www.nabp.net. NABP will send you the pre-filled NABP Official Application for Transfer of Pharmacist License to State of Delaware.
  • Sign the NABP Official Application for Transfer of Pharmacist License to State of Delaware in front of a notary. Submit it to the Delaware Board office.
  • Enclose non-refundable Delaware processing fee by check or money order made payable to “State of Delaware”
  • Arrange for the Board office to receive a criminal background check following instructions on the form.
  • Register with NABP to take the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) on www.nabp.net. For MPJE study material, click here. The Board office will notify NABP that you are eligible to take the exam(s) only after
    • it receives your transfer application and fee, and
    • you have registered for the MPJE.
