License by Reciprocity

How to Apply for a License by Reciprocity

If applying for the LPCMH licensure by reciprocity, applicants must provide the following:
  • Completed, signed and notarized application.
  • Processing fee by check or money order made payable to the "State of Delaware."
  • Verification of licensure in good standing from the state(s) in which you are currently or has ever been licensed and an Affidavit and Release of Information
  • Notarized affidavit affirming that you meet the qualifications as stated in 24 Delaware Code, Chapter 30, Section 3032(a) (3) through (6)
  • Verification of certification from the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Academy of Clinical Mental Health Counselors (ACMHC), or other national mental health specialty acceptable to the Board.

If you have practiced in good standing for five (5) years in the other jurisdiction, no further documentation is needed. However, if you have been licensed less than five (5) years, submit copies of the other jurisdiction’s licensing statute and rules and regulations for the Board to review to determine if the other jurisdiction’s statute/rules and regulations are substantially similar to those of Delaware. If the licensure requirements are not substantially similar, you may apply for the LACMH license.
