New Licensure - Appraiser Trainee


HOW TO APPLY FOR AN ORIGINAL DELAWARE APPRAISER TRAINEE LICENSE

Please follow these instructions carefully.

Requirements for Appraiser Trainee Applicants



Submit the following items directly to the Council on Real Estate Appraisers ("the Council") office at the following address:

  • Completed, signed and notarized Application for Appraiser Trainee form. Be sure your supervisor has signed the Verification of Appraiser Trainee Supervision section.
  • Processing fee by check or money order made payable to "State of Delaware". This fee is non-refundable.
  • Photocopies of your education certificates proving you have completed 75 classroom hours of Qualifying Education, of which 15 classroom hours must be the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraiser Practice.
  • Letter of good standing or verification letter submitted directly to the Council from each state in which you are now, or have ever been, a licensed or certified real property appraiser.
There is no experience or examination requirement to apply for licensure as an Appraiser Trainee.

Exemption Pursuant to Rule and Regulation 4.2.3



When you have obtained 250 hours of residential appraising or 1,000 hours of non-residential appraising experience as defined by the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) qualifications criteria, you and your supervisor may jointly apply for an exemption that would allow the supervisor to sign the appraisal report without inspecting the property as provided. See Section 4.2.2.1.1 of the Council’s Rules and Regulations.

To apply for exemption, submit

completed Verification of Supervised Appraisals by Appraiser Trainee form signed by both you and your supervisor
