North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE)
General Information about the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE)
The National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (NBVME) provides standardized examinations for use by licensing boards as part of their veterinarian licensure process. Passing the NAVLE is a requirement for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in all licensing jurisdictions in North America. (The NAVLE replaced both the National Board Examination (NBE) and the Clinical Competency Test (CCT) beginning in November 2000.)
The NAVLE is a 360-item computer-based multiple-choice examination. It is administered during two testing windows per year – one in spring and one in fall.
