Answers

How do I become approved for the Administrator-In-Training (AIT) program?

Answer: See the Administrator-in-Training webpage.

Does my compact Registered Nurse (RN) license make me eligible for a 12-month AIT program?

Answer: No. A compact RN license does not meet the requirement for a Delaware RN license. However, you may qualify for a 6-month, 9-month, or 12-month AIT program if you meet the education requirement. For information on the education requirements, see Administrator-in-Training.

How do I become approved to sit for the exam?

Answer: The Board will grant approval to sit for the exam when you have successfully completed the AIT program and a Board-approved course of study. In general, the Board will approve any 100-hour or 120-hour course of study that is also approved by the National Associations of Boards of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB). NAB administers the NHA licensing exam. For more information, see www.nabweb.org.

How is a Temporary Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) approved?

Answer: The applicant, who will be the appointed temporary NHA, must submit the application and all supporting documentation into DELPROS for Board approval. For complete instructions, see Temporary NHA Licensure.

How do I notify the Board of a change of address?

Answer: You may change your mailing and public address in DELPROS by logging into your DELPROS Dashboard using your user id and password. On your Dashboard, you will see your licenses in tiles. Click on the Options button in your license tile. Choose Change Address and follow the directions. This will change the address on every license type you have.

How do I submit continuing education (CE) courses for approval?

Answer: Regardless of being a licensee or a provider, in order to submit a CE course for approval, you first must have an account in DELPROS. Once you have an account, log in and click on Service Request in the dark blue banner. Then Apply for A New Service Request. Click No to the first question, then choose profession and either CE Provider Approval or CE course approval and proceed by completing the information. You will need to provide full information about course(s) you are offering or taking. The Board will review the service request and supporting documents for approval and notify you of their decision. Log all CE taken in your personal CE tracker on your DELPROS record.

How do I request a written license verification?

Answer: If you must have a written license verification, follow the instructions for a Service Request in DELPROS, our online portal. There is a fee for a written license verification and it may take 5 – 7 business days to process. For more detailed information, see the License Verification webpage. Alternatively, the Division of Professional Regulation (DPR) offers a free online license look-up verification service. Click on Search & Verify License tile on DPR’s home page and follow the instructions.
