License Renewal

Information About Renewals

Pharmacist licenses and Pharmacy permits expire on September 30 of even years (e.g., 2020, 2022).

A few months before the expiration date of your license, a renewal notice will be sent to the email address on the record. This notice will explain how to access your online renewal application in DELPROS, our online professional licensure system. To complete the online renewal application, you must log-in to your account, answer questions, and use a credit card to pay your renewal fee.

All notices about professional licenses, such as renewal and audit notices, will be sent by email only. It is important to keep your contact information up-to-date so that all the notices we send reach you. To check and update your contact information online, click on Manage Profile or Facility link in DELPROS.

Renewing Active Pharmacists Licenses and Registrations

An active license must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date. During renewal, you are asked to attest that you have completed the required continuing education units (CEs).

For information about CE requirements and audits, click on the Continuing Education and Audit Information webpage or see Sections 1.3 and 1.4 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations. After the renewal, a percentage of licensees are randomly selected for audit of CE.

Renewing Pharmacists Interstate Telehealth Registration

This Telehealth Registration expires on September 30 of even-numberd years (2022, 2024). An active license must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date.

During each renewal, you must attest that:

  • you hold at least one active license issued by another state’s licensing authority or board, and
  • all licenses that you hold or have ever held are in good standing.

Renewing Active Pharmacies and Other Facilities

Facility licenses must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date. You must provide information about the facility’s mailing and location addresses, pharmacist-in-charge (Retail and Hospital pharmacies), and ownership. Facilities do not have CE requirements.

Renewing Expired Licenses

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice in Delaware while your license is expired.

You may file a late renewal application up to 60 days after the expiration date in DELPROS. You must pay a late fee in addition to the renewal fee. Even though you can file a late renewal application, it is illegal to practice as a Pharmacist or to operate a Pharmacy or facility until the license is actually renewed to active status. The late period is not a “grace period.”

All Pharmacists who submit late renewal applications will be selected for audit of their CE. For information about CE requirements and audits, click on the Continuing Education and Audit Information webpage.

If you fail to renew by the end of the 60-day period, your license will terminate. To resume practicing as a Pharmacist in Delaware or operating the Pharmacy or other facility in Delaware after termination, you must reapply in DELPROS as a new applicant.

Requesting Inactive Status/Reactivating Pharmacist Licenses

If you hold an active license but are not practicing in Delaware, you may request to place your license in inactive status by submitting a Service Request in DELPROS. You must request inactive status before your late renewal period ends (November 30 of the same year).  You cannot practice in Delaware while your license is in inactive status. Your license may remain in inactive status for up to four years.

To resume practicing in Delaware, you must reactivate your license by submitting a Service Request in DELPROS along with proof of completing 3.0 CEs (30 hours) per biennial licensure period.   For more information on requesting inactive status or reactivating an inactive license, see Section 24 Del. C . §2512 or see Sections 1.3 and 1.4 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.  For information about CE requirements and audits, click on the Continuing Education and Audit Information webpage.

If you fail to reactivate during the four-year period, your license will terminate. If you wish to resume practicing after your license has terminated, you must reapply in DELPROS as a new applicant.
