License Renewal

Information About Renewal Applications

Professional Land Surveyor licenses and Certificates of Authorization expire on June 30 of odd years (e.g.,2019, 2021).

A few months before the expiration date of your license, a renewal notice will be sent to the email address on the record. This notice will explain how to access your online renewal application in DELPROS, our online professional licensure system. To complete the online renewal application, you must log-in to your account, answer questions, and use a credit card to pay your renewal fee.

All notices about professional licenses, such as renewal and audit notices, will be sent by email only. It is important to keep your contact information up-to-date so that all the notices we send reach you. To check and update your contact information online, click on Manage Profile link in DELPROS.

Renewing Active Licenses

An active license must be renewed in DELPROS every two years before the expiration date. During renewal, you are asked to attest that you have completed the required personal development hours (PDHs) and information on your Land Surveyor seal.

For information on PDH requirements, click the Continuing Education and Audit Information webpage or see Section 10.0 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.  After the renewal, a percentage of licensees will be randomly selected for audit of their PDHs and seal.

Renewing Certificates of Authorization

In addition to completing the online renewal application in DELPROS, you must submit a Verification of Land Surveyor in Charge Information form to update information on the management of the business. Follow the instructions on the form or in DELPROS for how to submit the form.

Renewing Expired Licenses

If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, your license will expire. It is illegal to practice or offer land surveying services in Delaware while your license is expired.

You may submit a late renewal application for a period of six months after the expiration date in DELPROS. You must pay a late fee in addition to the renewal fee. Even though you can file a late renewal application, it is illegal to practice or offer services in Delaware until your license is actually renewed. The late period is not a “grace period.”

If you fail to renew within six months, the license will terminate. To resume land surveying in Delaware after termination, you must reapply for licensure in DELPROS as a new applicant.
