Continuing Education and Audit Information

How to Request Continuing Education(CE) Course Approval

If you know or have any doubt that a CE course that you have taken or want to take is not approved by the Board, you should request to have the course reviewed and approved by the Board. You must use the DELPROS online portal to request approval of the CE course(s) through a Service Request. For more information on how to submit courses for approval or many other types of service requests for this profession, see the Geologist Service Request webpage.

Note: Section 6.11 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations state that only courses from providers not listed in Section 6.10, must be approved by the Board. If the course you took or want to take is already pre-approved, you do not have to submit a service request for course approval.

Continuing Education Requirement

The amount of CE that you are required to complete depends on when your license was issued. If you have been licensed:

  • less than one year – you are not required to do CE
  • more than one year, but less than two years – you are required to complete 12 hours of approved CE

Active Geologist’s must complete 24 hours of approved CE during each full licensure renewal period between October 1 and September 30 even-numbered years (2018-2020, etc.). For complete information on the CE requirements, see Section 6.0 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.

Approved Activities

Pre-Approval

For pre-approved CE providers, see Section 6.10 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.

The Board must pre-approve all CE courses from providers not listed in the Rules and Regulations. Providers not listed in the Rules and Regulations must use the DELPROS online portal to request approval of the CE course(s) through a Service Request. For more information on how to submit courses for approval or many other types of service requests for this profession, see the Geologist Service Request webpage.

General Audit Information

Random audits are performed by the Board to ensure compliance with the license requirements. License holders selected for the random audit must verify that they have maintained the required CE and any other information required by the Board to confirm their continued eligibility for the license. For complete information, see Section 6.12 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.

Audit Requirement

Do not upload any CE documentation into DELPROS unless notified that you have been selected for audit.
If you are selected for audit, you must upload a copy of:

  • the certificate of attendance or completion for each CE course that you entered in the CE Tracker in DELPROS
  • your embossed geology seal. Verify that it is “readable” after you upload
