Applicants for Licensure by Grandfathering:
Be advised that the window for application by grandfathering closes on June 11, 2021. This means that the complete application must be submitted to the Division of Professional Regulation no later than June 11, 2021. All applicants must pay the application fee by that date and upload any required documentation.
Applicants who have not obtained a criminal background check must provide a receipt showing they have been fingerprinted. Applicants waiting for their transcripts must provide documentation that they have requested the transcripts.
Applicants who do not complete the steps outlined above by June 11, 2021 will be ineligible for licensure by grandfathering and may apply for licensure by Examination or Reciprocity.
§ 3907B. Qualifications of applicant; grandfathering.
(a) Grandfathering period. — (1) The Board shall issue a license to an applicant who meets all the applicable requirements under this section and has submitted a completed, signed application and the applicable fee by June 11, 2021.
(2) If the applicant does not provide all of the information that the Board has requested by June 11, 2021, the application for licensure is considered ineligible for grandfathering and is closed, see Social Worker Grandfather Provision.
The primary objective of the Delaware Board of Social Work Examiners is to protect the public from unsafe practices and practices which tend to reduce competition or fix prices for services. The Board must also maintain standards of professional competence and service delivery. To meet these objectives, the Board
The Board issues licenses to clinical social workers.
The Board’s statutory authority is in 24 Del. C., Chapter 39.
Unless notified otherwise, the Board meets the third Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m., except for August and December. If the regular meeting date is a holiday, the Board meets on the first Monday. All meetings are open to the general public and are held in the Cannon Building, 861 Silver Lake Boulevard, in Dover. The meeting schedule is available at the State of Delaware public meeting calendar.
The Board may need to review and approve your application for licensure and will only review a complete application. A complete application includes your application and any documentation submitted through DELPROS and/or any documents submitted through the mail or email from third-parties. The Board will review your documentation at its next scheduled meeting.
Fees required to process your application are non-refundable.
