The amount of CE that you are required to complete depends on what license you hold and when your license was issued during the full licensure period. If this is your first renewal, and you hold a:

LICENSED BACHELORS SOCIAL WORKER’S (LBSW):
IF you are issued the license… THEN the CE requirement is…
On or before 6/30 odd years 18 hours
Between 7/1 odd years but before 2/1 even years 12 hours
Between 2/1 even years but before 6/30 of even years 6 hours
Between 7/1 of even years but before 2/1 of odd years 0 hours
LICENSED MASTERS SOCIAL WORKER’S (LMSW):
IF you are issued the license… THEN the CE requirement is…
On or before 6/30 odd years 24 hours
Between 7/1 odd years but before 2/1 even years 18 hours
Between 2/1 even years but before 6/30 of even years 12 hours
Between 7/1 of even years but before 2/1 of odd years 0 hours
LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER’S (LCSW):
IF you are issued the license… THEN the CE requirement is…
On or before 6/30 odd years 36 hours
Between 7/1 odd years but before 2/1 even years 30 hours
Between 2/1 even years but before 6/30 of even years 24 hours
Between 7/1 of even years but before 2/1 of odd years 0 hours

For ALL prorated license types, at least 6 hours must be completed in the area of ethics.

During each full licensure renewal period between February 1 and January 31 odd-numbered years ( 2019-2021, etc.), active licensees must complete:

  • 20 hours approved CE for LBSW’s
  • 30 hours approved CE for LMSW’s
  • 40 hours approved CE for LCSW’s

The CE must include:

  • at least 6 hours must be in the area of professional ethics
  • at least 1 hour must be in the area of mandatory reporting
  • no more than 10 hours from self-directed activity

The Board will accept for CE credit, all courses designated for clinical social workers which are offered by the following approved providers:

  • Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB),
  • National Association of Social Work (NASW)
  • Clinical Social Work Association (CSWA)
  • American Psychological Association (APA)

Continuing Education (CE) is tracked in DELPROS, the Delaware Professional Regulation Online Service. To enter your CE, you must first create a DELPROS user account.  Go to the DELPROS online portal, and then click on Apply/Manage a License and Service Requests. If you:

  • are already an existing user, log in with your email address and password under the existing user section.
  • have not yet created a DELPROS user account, click on REGISTER.

After creating your user account or logging into the DELPROS online portal, you may begin entering your CE.

  • Click on the CONTINUING EDUCATION link in the dark blue banner at the top of the page
  • Click on ADD COURSE button
  • After choosing your profession, complete the other fields and click on SAVE
  • You will get a message of Success if the information you entered was created successfully
  • Click on CONTINUE to add more courses, upload documents, or delete entries if you made an error

When you are done, click on your Dashboard on the dark blue banner at the top of the page to renew your license or choose another service.

Random audits are performed by the Board to ensure compliance with the license requirements. License holders selected for the random audit must verify that they have maintained the required CE and any other information required by the Board to confirm their continued eligibility for the permit. For complete information, see Section 7.3.3.3 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.
Do not upload any CE documentation into DELPROS unless notified that you have been selected for audit.

If you are selected for audit, you must upload a copy of:

  • the certificates of completion for each CE course that you entered in the CE Tracker in DELPROS
  • course agenda, brochures, outlines or syllabi for courses

At a minimum, the documentation for each course must show:

  • Your name
  • Course name
  • Course sponsor
  • Course instructors
  • Course dates
  • Hours of course
  • Proof of clinical content
  • Proof of attendance
