All applicants, with the exception of the applicants who meet the experience requirement below to apply by reciprocity, must apply for a Funeral Resident Intern license and serve a one-year internship in Delaware. Apply for this license when you begin a resident internship with the intention of later applying for Delaware licensure as a Funeral Director. If you hold a current license as a Funeral Director in another jurisdiction and you have practiced as a funeral director at least three of the past five years, you may submit the Funeral Director application in the DELPROS online portal. In order to apply for a license or submit a service request, you must first have a DELPROS user account. To LOG IN or CREATE a DELPROS (Delaware Professional Regulation Online Services) use r account:
DELPROS allows you to save your incomplete application and return to it later to finish the process. You only have six (6) months to submit your application once you begin.
You may check the status of your application online throughout the entire application process by using the “View Application Status” feature in DELPROS on your e-License dashboard.

When the Board approves the internship, you will be notified of the beginning and ending dates. During this one-year period, you must complete and submit 25 embalming reports and four quarterly work reports. You may submit the reports periodically or you may submit all of them at the end of your internship using the Submit Additional Documentation option on your license tile in Your DELPROS online portal Dashboard.
At the end of the internship, you must submit a notarized letter from your sponsor confirming that you have successfully completed your internship.
All Funeral Director applicants must pass an examination on the Board of Funeral Services Delaware law, Rules and Regulations with a minimum score of 70% before licensure can be approved. When you are finished with your internship, you should first review the information about taking the exam on the Examination webpage. Also, see information about Funeral Director licensure on this website. Then, follow the directions for applying for the Funeral Director license in DELPROS.
